Healthy Recipes and Hands-On Nutrition Activities for Kids

Working at the Camden Children’s Garden, the spirit of community, gardening and fresh food is contagious!

This year,we built 2 gardens in our new backyard – using the lessons and supplies from the Camden Children’s Garden!!  As a member of the Camden City Garden Club’s Community Gardening Program, I pay an annual fee of $25 to enjoy the benefits of gardening workshops, lessons, utilize tools, supplies, fertilizer and compost.  I attend the monthly meeting to get the season’s timely plants, gardening advice and can even buy supplemental fresh vegetables from South Jersey gem: Duffield’s Farm!  The Community Gardening Program is a grant-funded program and is primarily for Camden organizations, churches and families to grow their own food.

At the Camden Children’s Garden, we also teach parents and children how easy it is to enjoy gardening to grow fresh fruits/vegetables,  paired with hands-on nutritional lessons and fun, delicious activities.  Kids can learn about the food pyramid (“my plate”) and the importance of a balanced diet with a variety of produce, containing various nutrients.  Thanks to the Garden FRESH BLOG, you can enjoy some of these activities at home with your family!
