Fighting Hunger and Obesity in Camden, NJ!

Congress Wont Give Our Kids Healthy Food… How About They Grown Their Own?

Camden Children’s Garden and Campbell Soup Company Partner to Fight Hunger and Obesity in Camden, NJ Community Gardens and Classroom Greenhouses!  SALAD PARTY:  Join us on December 21st as GrowLab Students celebrate their harvest food grown themselves!

Most people are well aware that Camden, NJ, is one of poorest, most dangerous cities in US.   DID YOU KNOW this food desert is “perhaps the fastest growing community garden program in the country,” according to a University of Pennsylvania Public Health Study?!?!

Since 2005, I have proudly and enthusiastically supported the public relations and fundraising events of this noble and leading sustainable organization:  the Camden City Garden Club (CCGC), operator of the Camden Children’s Garden (CCG) and Camden’s Community Gardening Program, an organization that, for 27 years, has been transforming Camden’s trash-strewn lots into community gardens to beautify, educate and nourish communities.  The CCG is a 4.5 acre horticultural, educational playground that hosts, workshops and GROUND TO GRILL barbeques, serving as a safe educational haven for Camden families and visitors.  Today, Camden has over 116 community gardens, where residents are growing a surplus of nutritious food in a city with only one full-service grocery store and 12,000 abandoned lots.  The possibilities are endless for an urban green city…
