The Garden Party Fundraiser will be a highlight of the 2012 season. VIP guests, gardeners, and food enthusiasts will enjoy the Camden Children’s Garden in all its seasonal splendor. Guests will browse the Silent Auction and enjoy Musical Entertainment on this enchanted evening. The Champions of Children Awards will honor notable individuals, foundations and corporations who work tirelessly on behalf of children and Camden, NJ ranked one of the top 10 Food Deserts in the U. S.
Our theme for 2011 was FIGHTING HUNGER IN CAMDEN, and will be continued in 2012. While we have made progress, there is so much work that still needs to be done!
The Fundraiser Garden Party will feature Mexican-influenced, locally grown appetizers, buffet dinner, followed by delicious deserts. “The Tortilla Press” Chef and owner, Mark Smith and wife Lydia Cipriani, are known for fighting hunger, featuring local produce in South Jersey.
The CCGC is Fighting Hunger and Obesity in Camden, NJ, which is known as one of the poorest, most dangerous US cities. Thanks to the CCGC, Camden is also known for their Community Gardening Program—perhaps the fastest growing in the US (according to University of Pennsylvania Study). Today, the CCGC enables 12% of Camden families to grow food – supporting 116 Community Gardens.
In 2012, we celebrate: 28 Years of Community Gardening in Camden—your contributions, helped residents to grow their own fresh produce, on Camden’s thousands of vacant city-owned lots. Your support enabled 23 years of the GrowLab Program in Camden schools, and 18 years of serving at-risk Camden youth through the Youth Employment & Training Program.
Your donations also helps support the Camden Children’s Garden, now in it’s 13th year of providing a place for families to explore and discover the natural world. The Camden Children’s Garden, the center of educational programs and the hub of CCGC, is a place where FOOD EVENTS are growing, like the Food Security Advisory Board Meetings, Family Food Festivals, and “Ground to Grill” Events.
We depend on many individuals, leaders, foundations and corporations to support our efforts. You can help! We offer several donation opportunities – see the next page for details and form. Proceeds from this event go directly to our programs and operations. As a 501(C)(3) organization, your Contribution, Advertisement, $60 of the cost of every Ticket, and Auction items may be tax deductible.
