#WellMOMblogs – Multi-tasking Mama – Baby & Mommy Activity Time

Moms can love their baby and their body – I hope this inspires moms to fit fitness into their routine! There are many ways to incorporate baby into exercises, like lifting baby instead of weights or crunches with baby. Plus multitasking workouts, like wearing ankle weights to the grocery store and all over the house – adding squats, kicks and knee lifts when cleaning bottles! Enhance baby’s playtime with a “strollercise”, working lower body while playing peek-a-boo and counting for baby’s stimulation. See below Peek-A-Boo Lunges. By the way, I am writing this whilst on my elliptical and baby girl gleeful plays in her excersaucer – I sing to her, tell her what I am doing, and I am setting a good example for her! Yet another way to add fitness into family time!

PEEK-A-BOO LUNGES
See photos for examples of Peek-A-Boo Lunges – baby will squeal with delight and mom will tone thighs which include the quadriceps (front muscles) and hamstrings (back muscles) and glutes (booty)
-1st, lunge – when you go down you are out of site from baby in stroller, say “where’s mommy?” And count -2nd, pop up and say “peek-a-boo”
-To do a proper lunge exercise, it is important for you knee not to go past your big toe to avoid future knee injuries.
-Switch legs and mix 3 reps of 20 into your walk around the neighborhood! (The neighbors will either think you are wacko or brilliant!)

– You can also do this when feeding baby in highchair or when baby in crib for the same effect!
