#WellMOMblogs – Chalk it up to teething?

Say Cheese!

Teething is not an event, it’s a lonnnng painful process for the whole family!

I have been saying “she must be teething” since she was 1 month old! Now, she’s almost 7 months, I’m still using that excuse for any not-so-pleasant behavior and there is no sign of a tooth! Well, there are signs – like the drooling, the fussiness, and gnawing on everything she touches – but no visible teeth! Where are these pearly whites and when does teething begin/end?

In the meantime, I’ll will just enjoy that gummy smile and doing some things that help relieve her pain.

Some tricks I use:

– I let her chomp on a Soothie pacifier with my finger in it to massage the gums, which she enjoys!

– I clean/massage her imaginary chompers with Dr. Brown’s Tooth and Gum Wipes. I found these to be the most sanitary, convenient and pleasant way to clean her mouth. She likes the grape flavor and having mommy’s soft massaging her teeth, which are there under those little gummies!

– Something I don’t really find as helpful as they should be are those teething rings you put in the refrigerator – they stay cold for seconds, but she likes chewing on them anyway!

– I attach a teething ring to infant carrier, highchair and baby gym. Places baby hangs for a long time. You can use a pacifier clip or toy holder/clasp. That way baby will chew on safe stuff meant for that purpose – and not mommy’s cell phone or remote! :).
