My healthy eater of purees has been turning her nose up at all healthy foods lately! I was instructed by pediatrician that she needs more crunchy foods to orally stimulate, so we turned to carbs. Now, it seems more difficult to get back to healthy whole foods, especially lean proteins and vegetables. Meal time has become super stressful and confusing!
When the problem became so acute, we turned to Early Intervention (EI) services for an evaluation. It’s important to make sure that there’s no underlying medical conditions when your child suddenly is not wanting to eat. We discovered that my child was having some G.I. issues (i.e. Constipation and her acid reflux was “silently” affecting our little girl’s appetite and her temperament). After we treated those issues, we were ready to tackle her healthy diet!
First, it’s important to know that you cannot force anyone to eat! See this YouTube video “how can I get my child to eat” @ http://youtu.be/o0vKETSt0LI
