I’m so excited to introduce you to another wonderful woman who has centered her business around making women feel beautiful and most importantly, confident! Like my most recently featured women entrepreneur friends, we are focusing on women taking time for themselves, especially you moms out there!
Who agrees that taking time for ourselves as women and mothers is far and few between moments? This is most prevalent of an issue when we are working on special projects or when life gets extra busy. When overwhelmed with work, parenting, keeping house, and life’s to do list, “me time” goes to the bottom of the list.
I realized that during my last project, my normal “event mode” became more like “survival mode” as I was doing a pro-bono event and working with two little kids around! I was constantly putting myself last: skipping meals, cutting back on sleep, and you can forget about exercising, beauty treatments, or making new friends!
But sometimes life’s aspirations and professional goals can give you unexpected gifts. Through my latest endeavor, LADIES FOR LEMONS, I had so many goals and objectives, that new friendships and personal maintenance were certainly not making their way on the agenda… Then in walked, Emilie Stevens, mother of 2.

Through a simple twist of fate in a mix of southern lemonade, a new friendship was born. I met Emilie Stevens through my former neighbor Tosha Morris, who sadly lost her son to cancer and created an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fund. The L4L event raised money and awareness for this foundation through a networking event and vendor fair. Emilie was a vendor, but kept offering more and more help. In the end, she basically made that fundraiser’s raffle possible–asking for and collecting the items. Then Emilie’s mom and her made the beautiful baskets. I couldn’t believe that someone could be so selfless and helpful to a stranger. Her bubbly personality is comforting and I was immediately amazed by her energetic participation in the cause!
Through our growing friendship and in discussing her business endeavors, I “accidentally” began to discuss how I could improve my own skin to feel more confident! I admitted to my new friend that, though I love my family and my work more than anything, I never had any time for myself and barely recognized my own reflection in the mirror! I told her how I was sick of having to wear tons of makeup to feel like I looked decent for public. She helped me to realize that I deserve 5 minutes in the morning and night! My skin deserves it, as we all deserve some “me time”.
Now, I’m going to take a step back and let Emilie explain in her own words how she recently empowered herself through a business endeavor that allows her to help women feel more confident and empowered.
“Life can lead us down many different paths! Being kind to each person, helping out others when we can is so important for myself to continue to have a positive outlook daily. Sharing and giving that positivity to others is what I try to do in my daily interactions. Every interaction we come across throughout our days can open up further discussions and more doors to friendships, job opportunities or just making that person smile for at least a brief moment in their day.
I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to join Lifetime Fitness this past year. I believe in their mission that a healthy mind and body leads to a healthy life and positive interactions! One day at their pool, hanging out with my kids, I had a moment to speak with a nice woman by the name of Angie Ross who has kids similar in age to mine. I asked if she worked. She said, “YES, from home!” I was curious as to what she did. I always wanted to bring in extra income working from home, knowing that it would afford me the opportunity to be able to be home for my kids activities and not have to worry about finding babysitters when kids were sick or off from school. She told me she was a consultant for Rodan + Fields (R + F). She said the extra income is pretty lucrative to pay for kids’ activities, take care of bills, put money aside for retirement, or vacations. To be honest, I never cared about my skin in the past. I was a very low maintenance girl but, my skin was starting to show my lack of interest in taking care of me. I started looking in the mirror noticing dark sun spots and wrinkles. A few months later, I made the best decision to jump on board and take a chance with my new friend and fellow business owner, Angie! After going all in, I realized that the only bad decision I made was not jumping on board sooner with R+F.

Rodan + Fields not only has helped minimize dark circles under my eyes, lightened my age/sun spots, provided brighter and more even skin tone but also helped me gain more self-confidence. Also, R+F has helped me be able to reconnect with old friends, make new friends and help others feel more confident and address their skin needs! The best thing about R+F is that everyone has skin and a lot of people want to feel and look younger. Many people see the value in these newly formulated products considering that Rodan + Fields is a billion dollar company and is ranked #1 in skincare!
