Join me in a toast honoring Women’s Equality Day and those who made this right a reality. You can participate, from anywhere, at any time on Sunday, August 26.
Just post a photo or video of yourself raising your glass to the suffragists and other women trailblazers. What you toast with is up to you (coffee, juice, champagne, whatever!). Or even toast with grape juice, as suffragist Alice Paul did back in 1920. I will be toasting with my favorite, “Mama’s Grape Juice” (my favorite Red Wine!)
Please be sure to use the hashtag #ToastToTenacity to be part of the collective “cheers!”
WHAT HAPPENED ON AUGUST 26, 1920?
This day, we memorialize the 98th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, a law that finally gave American women the right to vote.
On August 26, 1920, The 19th Amendment Takes Effect, Giving Women the Vote
KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING FOR THE FUTURE OF GIRLS & WOMEN EQUALITY!
I have been an advocate for Drexel University’s Vision 2020 since my position running Drexel’s Health Sciences Campuses in 2007. I am so excited that we are now only 2 years away from celebrating the centennial of women winning the right to vote. Now, as mother of two young girls, I am more than ever invested in this cause and national campaign!
So join my family, friends and many nationwide through toasting Women’s Equality Day! Many don’t know that that this same historical movement also led to many of the rights that we women may take for granted today. We have come so far, but there is much work left to do!
There is no better way to celebrate this historic milestone than to support completing the unfinished business of women’s equality. So after your cheers, join the Vision 2020 Campaign for Women Equality! Come on — Only Twenty Bucks!!!!
