TIPS ON HOW TO TAKE A PARENT BREAK

While this is a hilarious spoof, it is very true and important! When we are totally exhausted, burnt out and with our kids all the time, it really helps to have even 20 minutes of time away, to clear our heads, take a breath and recenter! Then it’s time to get back into the ring and love your kids even harder with more patience! Trade off with your spouse, ask a friend or neighbor to come over, or just put on a TV show or song on you like so you can try to take a mental break with your kids! The Dad Originals YouTube Channel is a great way to watch a quick funny video that will make you laugh and put parenting into perspective!

For stay at home parents, this is even more crucial! I suggest joining a gym (we love the YMCA) with kid-care so that you can “take AphukenbrakE” during the day to refocus on your own health and wellness! This was a game-changer to me once I got my then 1 year old acclimated to their childcare. Tips to getting young ones used to the childcare: plan frequent, yet short workouts so that your little one knows you will come back! Bring a lovey, pacifier or a bottle if they allow it, to provide comfort in the beginning — soon your child will feel comfortable and not even say goodbye when you drop them! This way, your child gets out of the house, socializes and sees you living a healthy lifestyle! I also use this time to do work or tasks on my phone that I cannot do with my toddler around. Sometimes I even go for a walk around the ground ALONE (haven’t done that in years!).

Another way to take a break with out separating from your kids, is to find an essential oil blend that calm, grounds and energizes you so that you can have a mini-mind break and refresh! I suggest Lavender for calming, Vetiver for grounding, and Peppermint to invigorate! Stress Away and Frankincense are also wonderful to help Reduce Stress Reactions and Negative Emotions! So take a deep breath, rub on your spine, and other vitaflex points and enjoy nature’s calming effects!
