This Spring Break, we made our own salt dough and enjoyed hours of tactile soothing play. By enhancing the salt dough with essential oils, during play, all the benefits of potent #plantpower can be absorbed into your child’s skin and breathed in for aromatherapy. Plus it is safe for kids who like to put everything in their mouth!
We made 4 times the recipe – each batch with a different color and enlightening essential oil! We chose uplifting Joy, Focusing Orange, calming Lavender and emotion-enhancing White Angelica (for me!).

(Oil Recommendations: orange, citrus fresh, Joy, lavender, stress away, lemon, vetiver).
– About 4oz Carrier Oil: grapeseed, coconut, etc.

DIRECTIONS:
– Mix together all the ingredients, except the food coloring, in a medium pot.
– Cook over low/medium heat, about 3-5 minutes, continuously stirring.
– Once it begins to thicken, add the food coloring.
– Continue stirring until the mixture is much thicker and begins to clump like playdough.
– Remove the dough onto wax paper or a plate or floured board to cool.
– After cooled, you can store in a sealed container or zip up bag and put in the refrigerator overnight.
– OR now you can start playing with your warm colorful dough!

LET’S GET OILY!
(Here, is where we experimented. For about 1 adult handful of dough, I added a squirt (about 1 tablespoon) of carrier oil but I guess you could use olive oil. The idea here is to have something to spread out and dilute your essential oils, just like you want on your body!
– This is when kids can Add their favorite Essential oils! (Approximately 1 drop per adult handful)
