Grow Hope this Summer – Help Feed Your Neighbor with ’Seeds of Hope Food Pantry’

As always, we like to share stories about folks doing inspiring work in their community and tell you how you can help!  There’s nothing like growing your soul and happiness, like helping your neighbor and giving back to your community.

Today, we are going to talk about HUNGER!  That word to you may mean something more metaphorical—we are hungry for more, we hunger to find our place in the world! But, we are talking about people that literally have HUNGER for food!

It’s hard to think about people in your own community going hungry and being in need of the essentials of life — the things we all take for granted! As the Bible says, “We should use gifts we receive to serve others”. Today, we applaud and ask for more, for the Seeds of Hope Food Pantry.  Fortunately, they have locally grown fresh foods, but are in major need for non-perishable foods.

Who Is Helped?

Seeds of Hope serves those in need living in the local community surrounding the Dresher, PA area. One member per household is welcome to visit and receive groceries once every other week.

In 2008, Seeds of Hope was a small Food Cupboard assisting approximately twenty to thirty families a week. Today, through their partnerships with Philabundance and Feeding America, and with the help of over 50 volunteers, nearly 600 families a month are being supplied with food. While the changes that come with rapid growth have been challenging, the heart of Seeds of Hope has stayed constant and has only been strengthened to share their ministry and fellowship. They strive to serve the increasing number of those in need by adapting, expanding, and increasing their resources.

Providing people with nutritional fulfillment has blessed them with the experience of much greater fulfillment. Food may seem to be the big picture, but as we take a closer look we know that it is just a glimpse of a greater need to share life together and God’s word. So many of us take for granted the opportunity to provide food for our families, but for many here in our community that is not the case. Knowing that so many friends and neighbors care can be a great source of encouragement.

Mission

At Seeds of Hope’s mission is to continue to saturate our community with food, time, energy, and resources. Most importantly they want to plant seeds of hope into the hearts of the people they serve. One thing we have learned along the way is that we cannot walk this journey alone. Please accept this invitation to partner with this amazing organization, as they strive to ensure the individuals they serve receive much needed resources.
