Nature Therapy, Intention Setting and Empowering Planting Activity

Today, Americans celebrate Labor Day, our yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.  In the honor of workers, let’s celebrate with two powerful activities that have been proven to lead to fulfilling successful productivity: Nature Therapy and Intention Setting.

As part of our #GoOutsideandPlay Challenge, in this post, we will provide information about why Nature Therapy is crucial to human well-being!  We also dig into research about Intention Setting and an Intention Setting Planting Activity that you can do alone, with your family, or with a group of friends (like at a Back2School Wine Night like us!)  #PlantPower #WineIsAPlant  #WellMomBlogs #YLLIFESTYLETEAM.

Thanks to my good friend Mira Anne Bhakta, inspiring life coach, for leading our about talk at a recent event!  At our event, a group of women learned about the power of nature therapy, intention setting and brought them to life in a planting activity!  We also included lava stones to act as essential oils diffusers (talk about #PLANTPOWER !!!)

Another day, we hosted this event with a group of kids, who also envisioned goals, and wrote their intentions for the new school year on their plants.  The importance of envisioning your target cannot be lost on our children!

NATURE THERAPY

Checkout research and reasoning from Psychology Today‘s article The Power of Nature: Ecotherapy and Awakening. It’s not surprising that nature has a therapeutic effect when you consider that the human race – and all our evolutionary forebears – have been closely bonded with it for all our existence. It’s only in recent times that many of us have been confined to man-made environments. For us, contact with green spaces is therefore like going back home, and fills us with the same sense of safety and belonging. We crave nature in the same way that a child needs a mother, and derive the same feeling of comfort from it.”

INTENTION SETTING

Now, we are going to discuss mindset, intention setting, and goal envisioning, which is concept used in so many success models, such as the book “ The Secret”, Napoleon Hill called it “cosmic habit force”, others call it “the Law of Attraction”.  We see this principle in creating Vision Boards and Target Focused Goal Setting used by fortune 500 companies and innovative organizations worldwide!  Simple put, it is the idea of putting things into the universe to make it happen.  If you are a religious person, you can consider this as prayer, and asking God for your desires.  It’s the intention behind, envisioning your goals and creating objectives and a plan to reach your dreams. In addition, this exercise stresses staying positive along the rocky road….in your thoughts and especially spoken word.

This practice is being explored by leadership a recent Harvard Business Review article, “A 2007 book, The Intention Experiment, explored the science of intention, drawing on the findings of leading scientists around the world. Author Lynne McTaggart uses cutting-edge research conducted at Princeton, MIT, Stanford, and other universities and laboratories to reveal that intent is capable of profoundly affecting all aspects of our lives.”

INSTRUCTIONS:  EMPOWERING PLANTING ACTIVITY

  1. – Pick a Piece of Pottery

  3. – If Pottery Does Not have a Hole on Bottom, Add layer of White Rock on Bottom.

  5. – Pick Your Plant Plug and Place into Pottery
  6. – Fill in Sides of Plant Plug with Soil
  7. – Add top layer of stones for accent
  8. – GET OILY:  Grab 3 Lava Beads—Add 1 Drop Per Bead     of Your Choice of Essential Oil and Place Around Plant Freshen with Oils as needed—You Just Made a “Diffuser”
  9. – Take Home or Put on Your Desk at Work – in a place you see daily.
  10. – Think about your intention and watch your dreams grow!

CARING FOR YOUR PLANT

  • SUN:  Most succulent varieties need at least half a day to a full day of sunlight. In extremely hot areas, some afternoon shade is recommended.
  • WATER: After planting, water in well and allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Succulents don’t like to have wet feet. When you do water, water thoroughly. Once they are established they will need less water.

Watch Your Intentions and Dreams Grow!
