Briar Bush Nature Center

Why We ❤️ This Outdoor Oasis

There’s something for everyone at Briar Bush, a rich oasis in the middle of suburban Abington, PA. Their 12.5 acres feature over a mile of trails winding through a mixed deciduous/coniferous forest. Inside the Museum and out on the trails, nature can be found at any time of the year.

Animals: Mini zoo, Live Animal Program, Pond with interesting creatures, bird observatory, and tons of animals in their natural habitat.

Customize A Program for a Birthday Party or group.

Indoor Spaces: Bird Observatory, Butterfly House, and Nature Museum.

Food: Bring Your Own, Covered area with tables (sometimes used by schools)

Programs with Purpose:
– School Groups / Field Trips
– Lenape Living where you can re-created props and tools, learn traditional methods of hunting and gathering, and play Native American games.
– Educational Programs utilizing the pond ecosystem.

Trails: includes nature play, plant labels (which we ❤️ to learn names of plants!), guided nature hikes, and so much more!
Notes for Trailblazers: The upper area is stroller- friendly, but don’t bring it down to the pond. (We could barely get back up the rugged hill….Made that mistake, so don’t want you too!). However, if you want a mini-hike in a safe/stimulating environment, it’s the perfect scenario. Enjoy!
