It’s a new decade!! Are you ready to rock it this year?!?!?
Holiday Hangover: Sluggish Start to 2020
Many of us are starting the new decade off more sluggish than we planned. Perhaps that’s because we all need a little time to catch our breath, rest a little more and lay low after the busy holiday season.
It seemed like these past holidays were extra challenging! Maybe it’s because I made myself a hefty goal of giving gifts from my heart this year — crafting distributed 300 handmade gifts to friends/family to promote the blog and #PlantsPower. So I hope you are all enjoying them!
December was extra busy time for us, as my children go to different schools now and have their own holiday events. Kids are participating in more extracurricular activities these days, which always seem to culminate in the chaotic times. In addition, schools had an extra lengthy time off this season and we must entertain/educate.
We had some death in the family, so it was saddened — and a merry time became a mourning time. However, I know we are blessed by Jesus’s birth and the magic of Christmas in the eyes of a child can mend any heart. Whatever the reason, we are tired with a capital T!

Why a Winter WindDown Is a Necessity!
We love a good Holiday party and some Christmas Cheer, but downtime is imperative! According to Harvard Business Review, “downtime can dramatically improve mental and physical health and our personal relationships. One study, for example, found that employees who unplugged and took time off reduced serious health issues like coronary heart disease. … Downtime can be essential for mental, physical, and social health.”
And while we love the outdoors more than most, it’s actually a good thing to have the winter months to force us indoors for some much-needed introspection, organization and focusing on the upcoming year’s goals.

How Can You Set Goals Without Purpose?
Before we get into goal-setting in later posts, let’s discuss finding your purpose to be sure you have the right foundation and are pointing in the right direction!
It’s so imperative, but always an afterthought to explore the root of our nature….our passion and purpose! We get stuck in the day-to-day and “survival” of life in these chaotic times. Plus, the process can be daunting and downright impossible to some…without the right tools!

Secret to Fulfillment: Vision Board Model “Ikigai”
If you need a “reset button” in 2020 to start over your career in a new direction, this is the tool for you. Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being” or “life’s purpose”. The word “ikigai” is used to indicate the source of value in one’s life or the things that make one’s life worthwhile. This vision board worksheet will help you decide what types of things you want to attract into your life.
