DIY Syrup Ingredients:

  • 6 cups water (purified)
  • 1 cup Raw Honey (add later and ¼ extra if you like sweeter)
  • Optional Ingredients:
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 inch piece of Ginger (peeled and diced or shredded) or 1 tsp dried ginger
    • 1 tsp cloves
    • I recommend all organic ingredients if possible.
    • Essential Oils: Thieves Vitality and Lemon Vitality are the Most Important for Immune Support – there are additional flavors below that are totally optional too!
    Recipe Instructions:
Place ingredients minus honey in the instant pot. Turn on Manual High setting and set the time for 7 minutes. When it is finished pressure release right away, once it is finished pressure releasing take the lid off.  Turn on Saute for 10 or so minutes to reduce down a cup or so. Strain out the elderberries with a metal strainer and press the extra juices out of the berries. Discard the berries after strained (do not eat the berries). Let cool till room temperature (70/80ish) and then add honey. Keep Refrigerated and Shake before each use.
This recipe makes 5-6 jars depending on how much you let it reduce down. I add 2 TB of local honey to each 8oz jar, stir in the oils with the honey. Then top off with the elderberry juice that’s cooled to room temperature.
