#GoOutsideAndPlay: Hiking Trails Dramatic Increase in Usage – How Safe is That?

You know we LOVE being outside; however, I implore my outdoorsy readers to heed some important data that’s a bummer to the world’s wellness! Airborne transmission is “plausible,” according to a study published in the print edition in the peer-reviewed The New England Journal of Medicine from scientists at Princeton University, UCLA and the National Institutes of Health. The researchers concluded that the virus could remain airborne for “up to 3 hours post aerosolization.”

With this data, we need to take a step back and ensure that we are being safe outside….

Hiking trails are nature’s way of fostering connections between land, water and people. And, recently, they have become an outlet for many to escape – even if for just an hour – from that new normal. Trails can be the gateway people need during these unprecedented times, but as more and more people explore the trails, one can’t help but wonder whether trails are the answer or if they are becoming a part of the problem?

Check out the article for some ideas to make hiking safer in these times. I totally understand we still NEED to get outdoors! Read more from the Philadelphia Inquirer!

So, #GoOutsideandPlay is not canceled, but wanted to share the Data so you can decide for yourselves! Take care!
