Dr Martin Luther King‘s Thoughts on Violence and Love

“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate…Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Another American Hero Said This…

We Must Create, Not Destroy

As many Americans, I am deeply disturbed by the news from this weekend. With my city of Philadelphia so violently reaching out for any type of change, which this type of negative news begets. I know that in grief, we must not destroy, we must create. All politics aside, we must create that new world, we must create laws that protect people (even if it’s to protect them from our protectors), we must create room for discussion on disparages, we must create safe housing for all people and we must create a places where political leaders and law enforcement demand equality for all. This Monday morning, leaders across the nation are working together to begin to create this new tomorrow like Dr King’s Dream. Tuesday morning, we can all create by voting in the election.

This beautiful music video Symphony is symbolic of how we all feel some sort of grief today, no matter which side of the political spectrum we are, or which race box we check. Together, we need to create a symphony and some harmony for each other to live in peace without fear of each other.
