Ladies for Lemons: Networking for a Cause and Vendor Fair Benefits Pediatric Cancer Research
In an effort to raise money and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Ladies for Lemons (L4L) will host Networking for a Cause and Vendor Fair on Thursday, May 3 from 6-9 pm at MaGerks Pub & Grill in Horsham, PA. This event will benefit the Gavin Strong Fund for Neuroblastoma Research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). We thank the Morris Family and their dear Gavin whose inspiring legacy the event will celebrate.
Gavin was such a courageous little man that they called him “Gavin Strong.” The Morris family, their friends and supporters continue to celebrate Gavin’s strong-willed spirit. Through their many events and projects, Gavin Strong has raised $120,000 for neuroblastoma cancer research. For more information on Gavin’s story, please visit: www.begavinstrong.org. The Morris family, who moved to Pennsylvania for Gavin’s treatment, recently moved back to West Virginia to care for sick family members. The L4L event will be a homecoming for the Morris family.
LADIES FOR LEMONS (L4L) is circle of women, building a community to empower each other professionally and personally for a cause. These women include partners, vendors, and volunteers. Half of the vendors are neighbors of the Morris Family, others are church folks and friends! L4L is all about community and partnership with local businesses in the Montgomery County area. In an effort to make the event more communal, we invite everyone to come with their families, friends or business associates. This event is made possible by sponsors MaGerks, PPbyTT, all event donors, vendors, and volunteers. Read more about the inspiration of this event below.

About Childhood Cancer
Childhood cancer is a general term used to describe cancer in children occurring regularly, randomly and sparing no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. Childhood cancer extends to over a dozen types of cancers and a countless amount of subtypes. Just a few of these cancer types include: Ewing sarcoma, glioma, leukemia, lymphoma, medulloblastoma, neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, retinoblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and Wilms’ tumor. In the United States, childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15. Every day, approximately 250 kids around the world die from cancer, accounting for 91,250 losing their lives to the disease every year.
About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $150 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 800 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. In addition, ALSF provides support to families affected by childhood cancer through programs such as Travel For Care and SuperSibs. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Inspiration of LADIES FOR LEMONS
As a Philadelphia-area resident through her life, Tracy T. Nyszczot (PPbyTT) heard about ALSF and their many outreach programs in the area. The cause hit closer to home when she met her (then new) neighbor, Tosha Morris, who had proudly displayed their “Gavin Strong” sign outside their residence. Tosha told Tracy about how her family came from West Virginia to Philadelphia, PA, so that their oldest son Gavin could receive cancer treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Although she never met him, Tracy felt encouraged by Gavin, who was such a courageous little man, they called him “Gavin Strong”. Sadly, Gavin lost his battle with cancer in 2014; however, the Morris Family decided to stay and put down some roots in Pennsylvania.
Upon meeting her, Tosha’s strength and faith amazes whomever she meets. Her and her husband’s perseverance and productivity through their grief is truly inspiring. They established Gavin’s undying legacy through the Gavin Strong Fund and partnered with ALSF to further expand their outreach. Through their many events and projects, Gavin Strong has raised $120,000 for neuroblastoma cancer research and collected 200 pints of blood for the American Red Cross.
This family continues living through even more battles with cancer after Gavin’s passing. Now, Gavin’s grandfather, Steve, is sadly fighting his own battle with glioblastoma cancer. In addition, Gavin’s great-grandmother now has cancer, so the Morris Family moved back to West Virginia to care for their loved ones. Seeing everything that this family has been through is an unbelievable inspiration and a constant reminder of how fragile life is; and how strong love can be! This event will, not only be a fundraiser, but will also serve as a sort of Second Homecoming for the Morris’s to visit their “Pennsylvania Home” and a chance for a community to rally around this strong family.
LADIES FOR LEMONS (L4L) is circle of women building a community who empower each other professionally and personally. These Ladies include event sponsors, vendors, supporters and partners. This event is part of Networking for a Cause, a charity event series that Tracy put on hold when taking time off being a mommy. This event has been a dream and years in the making…. A Hybrid Party with a Purpose! Through her charitable event planning company, PPbyTT, Tracy can support her friend who lost her son Gavin, and help so many other children with cancer. Additionally, the event promotes many of Tracy’s mom-entrepreneur friends who will be showcasing their products. Half of the vendors are neighbors of the Morris Family, others are church folks and friends! L4L is all about community and partnership with local businesses in the Montgomery County area. In an effort to make the event more communal, we invite everyone to come with their families to the downstairs to Dine & Donate.
~ MEET OUR EVENT SPONSORS ~
MaGerks Pub is a growing family business with philanthropic roots in their communities. The event will take place at their largest venue in Horsham, PA which can hold up to 450 guests! MaGerks also has locations in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, 2 locations in Baltimore, Maryland and is always expanding! MaGerks owners, the Dolaway Family are sure that each location is committed to supporting the local charities, townships, sponsoring schools, youth sports and other community organizations. Following Hurricane Harvey, MaGerks gave 15% of all sales for a day company-wife to the cause! Also MaGerks sponsors local families every Christmas from Breathing Room and Maddie Dixon Cupboard. The staff and owners chip in to cover all the family’s needs, like Christmas gifts and even help wrap! For these reasons and because the Horsham restaurant is fabulously rustic, PPbyTT and Ladies for Lemons chose this location!
